BIRMINGHAM, UK, Nov 5 - Delcam CRISPIN, the world's largest supplier of CADCAM software to the footwear industry, has expanded its sales team with the appointment of Marc Delahodde as Business Development Manager. His main responsibility will be to target the larger footwear brands in Europe and to make them aware of the unique benefits in productivity and quality available from the CRISPIN range of design and manufacturing software.
Delcam CRISPIN is the clear leader in the industry with more than 2,000 customers worldwide for its range of programs. It is the only supplier able to provide a complete solution for the 3D design and manufacture of lasts, uppers and soles. The company also supplies specially-adapted systems for the production of orthopaedic footwear and for the design and manufacture of orthotics, plus a range of scanning and cutting equipment.
M. Delahodde began his career in the footwear industry in 1983 as a footwear designer with the Bata Company. He was first introduced to the emerging CADCAM systems for the footwear industry in 1985 when he moved to Ontario, Canada, to work with Cimtech, Bata’s in-house design system.
M. Delahodde returned to Europe in 1988 to work for Microdynamics in Munich, Germany, when the company was becoming the leader for CADCAM systems in the sewn goods industry with its FDS footwear design products. He continued in that position through successive takeovers by Gerber, USM and Texon, during which time he contributed to various software developments including the merging of the FDS and CRISPIN product ranges. In 2005, he left to co-found a small company in France, CID, specialising in CADCAM software and production cutters for the leather goods and footwear industries.
Commenting on the appointment, Delcam's Commercial Director, Bart Simpson, said, "I am confident that Marc’s extensive knowledge of using CADCAM for shoe design and his long experience in the footwear industry will help us to continue to grow the sales of our CRISPIN software. Despite our leading position in the industry, we still feel that there are many opportunities to further increase our sales, both in the design departments of the major brands and in the factories manufacturing footwear."
