ZWSOFT Unveils ZWCAD 2017 for Flexible Editing

GUANGZHOU, China, Mar 15, 2016 - ZWSOFT, an innovative supplier of CAD solutions to the AEC and MCAD industries, announced that ZWCAD 2017 has integrated more useful features such as Flatten, Advanced Grip Editing and Undo Snapshot, to make editing more flexible and productive.

(click to see the video: YouTube.com)

Flatten

Flatten creates a 2D representation of objects and projects them onto the current viewing plane. By flattening objects, users can get a clearer view of 3D models once a viewpoint is set.

As ZWCAD is a 2D drafting application, however, not all the files users receive are exactly 2D after various editing. Sometimes some accidental Z coordinates get into the drawing and make it difficult to add new geometry or pull accurate distances from existing objects. Now in ZWCAD 2017, all those unwanted elements can be removed with Flatten function.

Advanced Grips Editing

ZWSOFT believes that they can do better in grip mode, and they have pushed every aspect of what’s possible with ZWCAD to new heights, the outcome – Advanced Grips, it is more than just a grip mode. Users can reshape, move, or manipulate objects on ZWCAD 2017 in the fastest way, tailoring their ideas exactly into something they expect.

Undo Snapshot

People make mistakes, and usually there is no going back. ZWCAD 2017 allows users to go back to their previous steps, and before they make the decision, they can take a look at what exactly they did on every step, because the history records are presented in snapshots.

“Perhaps all of these are just too insignificant to be called ground-breaking features, but for us, no detail is too small. Every tiny improvement we are talking about are inspired by actual user experience,” said Daniel Huang, Product Manager of ZWCAD. “An ordinary design tool is good, but we want to be better.”

China's DaZhong Selects ZW3D to Optimize Electro Motor Design

http://www.zwsoft.com GUANGZHOU, China, Jul 22, 2015 - ZW3D, one of the world's leading suppliers of advanced CAD/CAM solutions for the manufacturing industry, announced it has been chosen by Jiangsu DaZhong Electromotor Stock Co., Ltd (Dazhong), a leading motor manufacturing company in China.

DaZhong is specialized in manufacturing large and medium-voltage motors, DC motors, synchronous motors, flameproof motors and a variety of AC motors, with an annual production capacity of 600, 000 units. Their Products have won praises from both domestic and abroad enterprises, and been exported to over thirty countries and regions including the United States, Germany, Italy, the United Kingdom, Russia, Denmark and Spain.

The Need

DaZhong used to rely on 2D CAD software for designing. Many customers, however, require intuitive 3D to verify constructional validity. They had to export 2D data into identifiable 3D formats, like DWF, DWG, STL, etc., and then import into 3D platform for editing. Usually, finishing a design requires various software, leading to low efficiency and chaotic data exchange. Therefore, DaZhong was eager for powerful software which is capable of seamless data exchange.

The Solution

With powerful file translator, ZW3D helps DaZhong to bridge over the river between 2D and 3D data, greatly streamlining their workflow and reducing error rate of data exchange.

"ZW3D's capacity of data exchange is totally beyond my expectation. It can easily process extra-large 4G model. And its smooth interoperation and low price are also very rare," said Zhao Gong from engineering department in DaZhong.

Easily convert the electromotive pat from 2D sheet to 3D model

Mr. Zhao is proficient in multiple 3D CAD platforms before. When turning to ZW3D, he is surprised at ZW3D's intuitive UI and easy-to-learn & use features. "ZW3D possesses very simple workflow. In our department, engineers without any formal training can still initially master ZW3D in just a few days." Added Mr. Zhao.

Vero to Launch WorkNC v24 at Industrie 2015 in Lyon, France

http://www.verosoftware.com
GLOUCESTERSHIRE, UK, Mar 12, 2015 - Vero Software is launching the latest release of WorkNC at the Industrie trade fair in Lyon. With a wide range of new and enhanced functionality, Product Manager Miguel Johan says visitors will be astounded at the extent WorkNC Version 24 improves CAM operator productivity and machining quality even further.

“The new Rest Material Display has been enhanced, transforming it into a genuine analysis tool to aid CAM programmers in their perpetual quest to reduce machining preparation times.” It allows for the different amounts of rest material left on the model, to be rapidly evaluated according to user defined color ranges. On large models and even on extremely complex components it is easy for users to determine the small zones or pockets that still need to be machined.

Other innovative features include symmetry functions, importing 2D features directly from native NX files, quicker collision calculations, and new functions for working on STL models.

“Industrie is the most important trade fair in France, expected to attract over 20,000 visitors, a quarter being engineers, 21 per cent corporate managers and 17 per cent departmental managers. In other words, decision makers and prime contractors, for whom WorkNC and the other Vero CAD/CAM software on show, can provide the optimum solution for their requirements.”

Visitors to booth Y 87 in Hall 6 at the Eurexpo Lyon Exhibition Center from April 7 - 10 will see that WorkNC Version 24 features a set of standard collision detection functions covering the machining environment, tool holder, stock and machining center. “For 3-axis and 3+2 axis the WorkNC collision detection module indicates the shortest possible cutter than can be used. For 5-axis the Auto5 module determines the best possible conditions for a user-defined cutting tool. Special attention’s been given to optimize cutting conditions for features such as rubs and narrow slots.”

Re-machining strategies have been completely revamped, giving greater precision in detecting the areas to be re-machined, smoother trajectories, and improved surface finish quality.

A number of of components and products programmed with WorkNC will feature on the booth, including an engine block and a motorsport prototype wheel carrier, and a pilot’s helmet, along with the chassis of a Tech 3 competition motorbike competing in the Moto2 World Championships machined on a 5-axis DMG Mori Seiki milling center by Aravis Precision.

The exhibition also sees the French launch of Edgecam 2015 R1, which includes a brand new Waveform roughing cycle for turning. Based on the successful milling waveform technology, the toolpath maintains a constant cutting load. The release introduces further Workflow enhancements by supporting multiple setups for both milling and turning, meaning the component, stock and fixtures, can be passed to new machining sequences. It promotes the use of a single CAM file to house multiple machining setups, ensuring the stock remains associative between setups.

The Wire EDM product is now available in Workflow, and Edgecam 2015 R1 offers full machine simulation, including stock and cross-section display.

WorkPLAN 2015 R2 will also be on display - showing project management processes, 3D integration, and CAD data integration from quotation to shop floor - as will VISI 21, one of the world's leading PC-based CAD CAM software solutions for mold and tooling design and production.

And WorkXplore 3D 2015 is a major new release of the software which contains many features usually only found in CAD systems, enabling the user to perform diagnostics, create assembly instructions and prepare the production of 3D models. Technical Manager Philippe Deletang says it focuses on new functions and improvements, providing solutions for mobility, realistic animations, and processing large files.

“Thanks to the new Xplore Mobile application, geometric items - models 3D models, and ancillary data such as annotations, measurements and wire-frames - can now be exported to Android and IOS mobile platforms, providing WorkXplore 3D data to be accessed on the move.”

The animation engine has been completely reviewed to make animation sequences more realistic, while simpler to create.

A new batch conversion process switches large native standard CAD files, or a large number of files, to WorkXplore 3D format. In previous versions of the software the application could not be used during the conversion process, but the new tool means the file is converted in the background, while the user continues to work as normal.

WorkNC Version 24, WorkXplore 3D 2015, WorkPLAN 2015 R2, VISI V21, Edgecam 2015 R1, all on display on booth Y 87 in Hall 6. For more information, visit http://www.verosoftware.com.

Delcam Offers Add-on Modules for ArtCAM Express

http://www.delcam.com
BIRMINGHAM, UK, Mar 10, 2015 - Delcam has introduced four new modules for ArtCAM Express, the company’s entry-level software for engraving, sign making and woodworking that is priced at $149, £99 or 125 Euros. Like the ten add-on modules that were already available, these new options allow users to upgrade their capabilities to match their specific needs at a lower cost than would be required to move to the more powerful ArtCAM Insignia or ArtCAM Pro programs.

ArtCAM Express is the entry-level version in the range of artistic CADCAM software offered by Delcam. It includes 2D drawing, over 600 free pieces of relief clipart, and 2D and standard 3D machining functions. For more information, visit www.artcam.com/express.

The first of the new options is the tool-path-panelling module that allows larger jobs to be divided into sections for machining and reassembly once cut. With the bevel-carving module, a hand-carved look with beveled edges can be added to frames, molds or signs. Multiple items with different text on the same underlying design can be created with the multi-plate module using data from text or CSV files. Finally, the new fluting module allows ramping moves in and out of the material to create grooves or textured surfaces. This uses the vectors together with the geometry and motion of the cutting tool.

At the same time, the existing modules for advanced 2D machining and nesting have been enhanced to allow bridges associated with a group of vectors to be amended simultaneously, while the vector-tools module has a new option whereby vector layers can be preserved when a selection of vectors are copied and pasted.

C3D Labs Introduces C3D Geometric Kernel V16

www.c3dlabs.com
MOSCOW, Russia, Feb 3, 2015 - C3D Labs is pleased to introduce C3D V16, the latest update of its professional toolset for developing engineering software. V16 extends the capabilities of C3D for creating sophisticated geometric shapes, matures its 2D/3D design functions, and adds powerful features for constructing solids composed of sheet metal.

Most of the improvements made to C3D V16 were requested by customers, fifteen as of now. Overall, the latest release of C3D features more than 100 improvements to the kernel's functionality.

What’s New in C3D V16 ?

For this release, the C3D development team focused on improved the sectioning and cutting processes, adding efficient parallel calculations within the kernel, and on securing threads for binding multiple surfaces. The geometric solver now boasts clustering, journaling, dragging, and reflection symmetry for 3D shapes, as well as advanced options for building parameterized splines. In addition, there are major changes to 2D Boolean operations.

The updated C3D converter imports data in STL and VRML formats, passes attributes during conversion, and adjusts the accuracy of exported STL models. Thanks to optimized multi-threading, data are now processed much faster during the importing of 3D models.

To improve the quality of software products, C3D Labs has extended its reference database to 350,000 3D models, and increased the total number of Boolean operations being tested daily to several million. The lab implemented support for Clang 3.5 and Visual Studio 2013 compilers, the latest C# programming language, an extended list of supported Linux builds, updated test applications for Linux, and a newly illustrated user manual.

C3D Modeler Enhancements

Among the new capabilities of C3D Modeler V16, the following are perhaps of greatest interest to customers:
  • In kinematic operations, the elements of solids are cloned for a variety of positions relative to the guide path.
  • Threads can now be adjusted according to the initial position and length of the hole in which it is rendered.
  • Building shell rings by individual sketches with irregular faces is now performed using the constant bend radius. Building conical polygons through sheet metal bends is now performed through segmentation of the support arches.
  • When building sheet metal bodies, the closure of angles is now rendered through the rotary processing of the target area. Users can set different lengths to the left and to the right of the bending extension.
  • Edge fillets are created more efficiently, with dramatically fewer inaccuracies and with no building limitations, as compared to the previous versions of C3D.
  • The thickness of surfaces can be based on singular (polar) points.
  • The tangent line junctions of surfaces built from a web of curves are rendered more smoothly.
C3D Solver Enhancements

The C3D Solver adds a new geometric object called the “cluster.” Essentially, a cluster is a solid body with its own constraint system. Clustering is useful for arranging geometric models against a hierarchy of nested sub-assemblies. In this use case, designers can now employ the same solver instance for an entire assembly. This saves computing resources and speeds up calculations when modifying 3D models.

To facilitate the development of applications, C3D Labs has implemented journaling of all API calls in the 2D solver. All details regarding interactions of the C3D Solver are recorded automatically to file. This allows remote debugging of bugs that are reported by customers, and is especially useful because the same environment in which they use the kernel is not needed by developers.

For assemblies in which some objects are a full or partial mirrored reflection of others, C3D Solver has a new type of geometric constraint for 3D shapes: reflection symmetry. Reflection symmetry can be applied to any geometric object, such as curves on pairs of bodies or external facets.

C3D extends the number of functions used in building parameterized splines in V16. These include the following: a new dragging function; a new interpolated spline function with any type of constraint (such as those available for the ordinary NURBS curves); a new function for recognizing the types of conic sections defined as NURBS curves; and a new constraint for defining spline configurations through its points with fixed coordinates, as well as through vectors of the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd derivatives at points with the specified parameters.

C3D Converter Enhancements

The updated C3D converter adjusts the accuracy of exported STL models by three triangulation parameters. These are the maximum deflection, the maximum pivot angle of a normal curve (or surface), and the maximum length of a triangle side.

The update imports polygon models in STL and VRML formats. As well, the software now transfers attributes of items being exported, such as name, designation, and owner.

Thanks to the improved multi-threading capability, C3D V16 converts data much faster when importing models. For instance, it is 1.7 times faster for Parasolid files (x_t, x_b) and 2.2 times faster for STEP files.

Delcam Releases ArtCAM Pro 2015 for Artistic Apps

http://www.delcam.com
BIRMINGHAM, UK, Jan 13, 2014 - Delcam has added a new ‘putty’ tool to the 2015 release of its ArtCAM Pro CADCAM software for artistic applications, allowing even more complex 3D shapes to be created with the program. In addition, many of the modelling options, including the new tool, now show the results of changes in real time.

Unlike most other CADCAM systems, ArtCAM Pro is aimed at skilled artisans rather than engineers and requires little knowledge of engineering or computing. It has been particularly successful in the signmaking, woodworking and engraving industries. In these areas and in other artistic applications, ArtCAM Pro allows users to increase productivity, improve quality and deliver new designs more quickly, by combining their craft skills and creativity with the power and precision of computer-aided manufacturing.

The main development for ArtCAM Pro 2015 is the new putty tool for modelling. This allows models to be edited by picking an area to be moved, swirled, pinched or puckered. It will be especially valuable when creating a series of variants on a repeating element in a design, such as a number of flowers making up a bouquet, or subtly changing the details of a design such as facial expressions. Together with the existing 3D tools in ArtCAM Pro, it will help the most ambitious designers create any shape they can imagine.

Another significant change is the ability to create and edit 3D shapes in real time, allowing the user to see changes instantly. Previously, this live update was only available when distorting vector artwork. In addition to the new putty tool, options now operating in real time include the shape editor, the two-rail-sweep tools, and the extrude, spin and turn modelling tools.

The 2015 release includes new tools to speed up the editing of vectors. Firstly, selection of vectors has been made easier and quicker. Dragging the mouse across any area of a model now selects all the vectors either completely or partially within that area. Selection can also be made of a set of nodes, either from a single vector or from a group of vectors. Once selected, the group of vectors or the set of nodes can be edited simultaneously in either the 2D or the 3D view.

CNC machining is often easier if all the vectors are in either the clockwise or anticlockwise direction. ArtCAM Pro can now identify all vectors created in one direction automatically, rather than having to check each vector in turn, so saving considerable time.

On the machining side in ArtCAM Pro 2015, custom tools can be created using an open vector to represent the tool’s profile, while relief slicing is available to divide high reliefs for machining, laser engraving or 3D printing as a series of layers. For further information, visit www.artcam.com/pro.

Autodesk A360 Team to be Available Worldwide on Dec 7

www.autodesk.com
LAS VEGAS, NV, USA, Dec 4, 2014 - Autodesk, Inc. (NASDAQ:ADSK) cloud-based tools like A360 and Fusion 360 empower designers and engineers to work in whole new ways and are reinventing the modern design and collaboration experience. At Autodesk University, the company announced that A360 Team will be available globally later this month.

The A360 dashboard gives users a view of recent activity streams for all active projects.

Yesterday’s means of collaboration are failing designers and engineers who require an entirely different scale of working together and sharing information. Enormous 3D model file sizes, data with a very high level of fidelity and precision and 3D visualization are just a few of Autodesk customers’ requirements. Reliance on email and traditional project management tools results in clunky workarounds and lost productivity.

Understanding the unique needs of designers and engineers, Autodesk pioneered A360—the first cloud collaboration tool geared for design and engineering projects. A360 Team is a modern tool for working together that breaks down silos, brings teams together across time and space, and enables data management to recede into the background and essentially be invisible to the people using it.

“The reality is that all projects — no matter what you are designing and making — are done in teams,” said Amar Hanspal, senior vice president of Information Modeling and Platform Products at Autodesk. “Nobody works on design projects in isolation. A360 easily connects project team members working together so naturally they don’t even have to think about it—it just happens.”

Connecting Projects, People, and Data

The future of working together with A360 is based on three guiding principles:
  • Simplicity: A360 removes the complexity of setting up teams, managing and working together on design and engineering projects. Team members can concentrate on core activities and not get caught up trying to understand different file formats, versions, and locations. Teams also have the confidence of having access to the right information, in the right format, at the right time.
  • Invisibility: When teams are working together on projects, they need to focus on the task at hand. A360 removes distractions by ensuring tedious tasks like version control “just happen.” It eliminates the constant frustration of moving between different tools, newsfeeds, platforms, screens, etc. - the collaboration experience becomes invisible within the tools you use day-to-day.
  • Integrated Platform: A360 also serves as an extensible collaboration platform for third parties to build integrated applications on top of as Autodesk has done with Fusion 360. Its APIs allow developers to seamlessly integrate a user’s context and role into a project. A360 puts the project, whether it’s one component of a large assembly or a sleek consumer product, at the center of it all to keep team members, clients and other stakeholders informed and involved throughout the entire design and fabrication process.
Form, Function, Fabricate: The Project is at the Center

Fusion 360–a cloud-based 3D CAD/CAM tool for product development--was the first Autodesk product to incorporate A360. Since its inception, Fusion 360 has included modern A360 collaboration capabilities that serve as a single space for people to work together.

In this modern way of working, traditional data management is no longer required. With Fusion 360, teams know they have the latest designs and the ability to roll back as needed, and sharing designs with key stakeholders is simple and intuitive. A breakthrough with this approach is that designers now have the ability to branch iterations of their work and merge it back in later if needed. This gives designers the ultimate flexibility, and was never possible with historical approaches to data management.

Reinventing Teamwork in the Cloud

A360 Team, which became commercially available in North America in September, already counts more than 60,000 users among the manufacturing and engineering industries.

“A360 has been a really accessible tool for us. Team members that were previously not involved in design are now coming on board and beginning to contribute to existing projects, taking on new initiatives and expanding our entire team’s skill set,” said Calvin Domenico III, president of DGF Technologies, a Massachusetts based consulting company who provides engineering services in a diverse range of specialties. “In addition, having an integrated CAD/CAM package with Fusion 360 that actually works well allows us to operate on a single platform and move quickly. And that's exactly what we need to be doing.”

A360 Team offers viewing for more than 100 2D and 3D design file formats within a Web browser without downloads or plug-ins. Its advanced search goes far beyond text search and lets users easily locate components embedded within models, assemblies and designs.

Meanwhile, the A360 mobile app enables users to view large 3D and 2D models, easily track what's happening on their project, and collaborate with other members of their team—virtually any data, anytime, anywhere, from any device.

Pricing and Availability

A360 Team will be available on the Autodesk store worldwide on December 7, 2014. Pricing may vary by country. For more information on A360, visit A360 home page.
