• New Convert Roof Slabs - Take a classic TurboCAD roof, and convert it to a set of roof slabs. This makes it more convenient to create and edit custom roofs (clipped gable roof, dormer, etc...).
• New Trim Roof Slab by Plane - Allows users to trim a Roof Slab by the plane of other roof slabs, standard roofs, or walls.
• New/Improved IFC Object Support - The IFC file filter, used for building information management (BIM), now supports the Import and Export of Beam and Column object types. 
• Improved House Wizard for quickly laying out house plans now allows you to name each room while in the tool.

Improved User Interface

• BricsCAD’s unique Quad cursor gains a new tabbed layout designed to give our users faster access to groups within the Quad. Atop the Quad cursor is a new information field that reports data about selected entities or over which the cursor is currently hovering.
• When the Quad cursor hovers over multiple entities, our users now press the Tab key to cycle them, with the current entity type displayed by the Quad. Holding down the Ctrl key while in selection mode can now be used to highlight sub-entities of associative arrays, mleaders, and polylines.
• When the new rollover tips function is activated, then the additional properties of the entities are displayed. This is helpful when users need to check properties, such as the lengths of edges on 3D solids.
• Any length, area, or volume property is now displayed using the preferred units through the new PropUnits variable. The units defined by the InsUnits variable are used as the base units for unit conversions.
• Hyperlinks contained in drawings are now exported in PDF files.

Greater 3D Usability

BricsCAD V16.2 now allows our users to place dynamic UCS on curved faces. Unlike all other CAD systems, DUCS is no longer restricted to flat faces.

A new 3dOsMode variable controls entity snapping to various kinds of geometry on 3D solids. Along with BricsCAD’s 3D parametric constraints, the new option is helpful when our users construct and edit 3D solid models.

New 2D and 3D Functions in V16

BricsCAD V16 significantly expands the function of the unique Quad cursor so that it also draws objects, in addition to editing them. The Quad is easily customized in V16.

Users make better drawings through the new dynamically associative array function that creates and edits linear, rectangular, polar, 3D array, and arrays along paths. As well, transparency can be applied to objects, layers, and plotted out. Text is enhanced multi-column paragraphs and automatic stacking of fractions.

Now map tiles can be placed from online cartographic services, and drawings can be located accurately using geographic coordinates.

BricsCAD V16 expands 3D object creation to 3D surfaces, which can be edited just like 3D solids, including those imported from other CAD programs. The new release imports and heals assemblies from MCAD programs like Solidworks and Inventor; in addition, it imports 3D models from the popular SketchUp conceptual modeling tool, and BIM data from IFC files.

BricsCAD BIM (building information model) for architectural design synchronizes 3D models with 2D sections, plans, and details, and reads and writes IFC files from other BIM systems. ODA Announces Teigha PRC Production Release

PHOENIX, AZ, USA, Oct 21, 2015 - Open Design Alliance (ODA) announced the production release of Teigha PRC, a 3D PDF component for Teigha. This component can be used to export a .dwg or .dgn file to PRC-based 3D PDF (Portable Document Format).

The accurate and highly compressible PRC file format is optimized to store, load and display 3D data such as geometry, assembly structures and product manufacturing information. PRC files encapsulated within PDF, an open standard, can be viewed universally which means that detailed 3D designs can be widely communicated.

PRC-based PDF files can be easily archived yet original 3D information will always be accessible for design reuse and revision within CAD, CAD and CAE systems.

“Our members have expressed a strong interest in 3D PDF and the versatility it provides,” comments Neil Petersen, ODA President. “Teigha PRC gives them an additional option for storing and sharing 3D information.”

ITC Releases IntelliCAD 8.1

PORTLAND, OR, USA, Aug 14, 2015 - The IntelliCAD Technology Consortium (ITC) announced the release of IntelliCAD 8.1.

IntelliCAD 8.1 is a major release that now includes support for Microsoft Windows 10. IntelliCAD 8.1 also includes multi-core processing when opening and regenerating files, which provides a 1.5 to 3 times performance improvement on multi-core computers. Also included is support for opening and saving .dwg files version 2015, developing end-user applications with a new Microsoft .NET API, opening and exporting .dgn files, annotation scaling, publishing drawings, printing to .dwf (or .dwfx), .png, and .jpg files, drawing helices and revision clouds, lofting and sweeping entities, creating polysolids, and various other new commands such as SETBYLAYER, XPLODE, TXT2MTXT, and AUTOCOMPLETE.

Open Design Alliance Releases Teigha 4.0.1 for Engineering Apps

PHOENIX, AZ, USA, Jan 15, 2015 - Open Design Alliance (ODA) announced the release of version 4.0.1 of Teigha, its software development platform for engineering applications.

Version 4.0.1 contains the beta release of Teigha Cloud, ODA’s framework for cloud-based rendering of .dwg and .dgn files. GENT, Belgium, MERRIMACK NH, US, Sep 26, 2014 - Bricsys, a global provider of .dwg engineering design software brought to market under the BricsCAD brand, released V9 of LGS component technology, a set of computational software libraries used by developers of CAD, CAM, CAE applications for implementation of geometric and dimensional constraint support.

This is the third release of this mature software since the acquisition of the corresponding intellectual property rights from LEDAS in 2011. Both LGS 2D and LGS 3D libraries were integrated in BricsCAD V12 to support parametric drawing and variational direct modeling. Later the areas of application of LGS were extended to assembly design in BricsCAD V13, and sheet metal design in BricsCAD V14. Now it is a powerful constraint solving technology, which proved its ability to solve complex industrial parametric models created by thousands of BricsCAD customers.

Version 9.0 makes a significant breakthrough in constraint solving techniques, which aim at finding the most natural (most expected by the end user) solution for a constraint problem. It also contains several improvements and fixes related to different problems reported by the customers.

In particular LGS 2D 9.0 provides better diagnostics for geometric objects and constraints. It also contains a new reliable method of solving coincidence constraint between two lines.

LGS 3D 9.0 allows users to edit 3D sheet metal models very smoothly and efficiently. It also implements special methods to minimize the number of transformed geometries, when it is possible. With LGS 3D 9.0 it is possible to control the distance between the closest points of two circles lying on parallel planes.
