Free Solid Edge High School Edition Available

As a part of its ongoing investment in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) education, Siemens PLM Software announces free High School Edition of its Solid Edge software for 3D computer-aided design (CAD) that is now available for educators in all secondary schools throughout the world.

The software is being made available to teachers and instructors in an effort to expose students to the same engineering and product design tools used by manufacturers worldwide, and encourage them to pursue STEM careers, thus helping address the global skills shortage in engineering and related fields.

The High School Edition of Solid Edge builds on the success of the Student Edition, which gives free access to all full- or part-time students throughout the world at any academic level. The High School Edition now gives teachers and instructors access to Solid Edge for use in both the classroom and in extra-curricular projects. By providing both educators and students with the latest 3D CAD technology that is easy-to-learn and use, Siemens aims to help educators increase student interest in STEM. And by offering these academic editions of Solid Edge at no cost, Siemens is helping to address the persistent tightening of school budgets.

The High School Edition of Solid Edge contains Siemens PLM Software’s unique synchronous technology, which combines the speed and flexibility of direct modeling with the precise control of dimension-driven design. Schools will have access to the full function modules of Solid Edge drafting, sheet metal, surfacing and advanced assembly design.

Educators can download a free 12-month academic site license at www.siemens.com/plm/solid-edge-highschool. The 12 month, free license can be renewed on an annual basis.
