The agreement will further extend the companies’ capabilities to deliver a world class Model Based Enterprise (MBE) authoring and publishing solution, Anark Core MBEWeb, which is powered by Geometric’s Glovius, an easy to use and customizable viewer application that enables downstream users to view high fidelity 3D data from anywhere, anytime. The companies plan to expand their global sales and marketing collaboration and jointly target enterprise manufacturers within the aerospace, defense, automotive and industrial sectors. This will be achieved through development of a joint product roadmap that will focus on market needs and deliver a highly effective and cost efficient solution for publishing and consumption of 3D documents by users in manufacturing, inspection, and purchasing.

3D MBE is a practice initially developed by the U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) in partnership with several of its key OEM suppliers that is now experiencing rapid adoption within both defense and commercial manufacturing organizations to enable:
- Reuse of 3D Model Based Definition data (e.g. 3D Dimensions and Tolerances and other Product Manufacturing Information),
- Elimination of costly and redundant 2D Drawings and 2D Technical Data Packages
- Cost reduction of internal engineering activities by up to 30% as well as reduction of scrap and rework by nearly 19%
- Affordable 3D MBE deployment solutions based on powerful, open and readily available industry standards like 3D PDF and 3D HTML
MBEWeb’s 3D HTML publishing capability using Geometric’s high-performance visualization technology, combined with Anark Core’s easy-to-use authoring user interface, subject matter experts in engineering, manufacturing, quality inspection, and purchasing can now easily create lightweight 3D HTML MBE documents for their in house (‘inside-the-firewall’) non-engineering users.
And since the same easy-to-use authoring environment can also be used to author and publish 3D PDF MBE documents in parallel with the 3D HTML MBE documents, these same subject matter experts have the additional flexibility to distribute lightweight 3D PDF manufacturing documents to their ‘outside-the-firewall’ tier 2, 3 and 4 external suppliers and/or customers - without any additional training or expertise. These 3D PDF MBE documents are also free to view by downstream users through the ubiquitous free Adobe Reader.
