Singapore's Sembawang Shipyard Upgrades from Tribon to AVEVA Marine

http://www.aveva.comSingapore, Feb 8, 2014 - AVEVA announced that Sembawang Shipyard Pte. Ltd., a global leader in shipbuilding with more than four decades of ship refit and conversion experience, has migrated from Tribon M3 software to AVEVA Marine for its engineering, design and production projects. AVEVA’s legacy Tribon M3 has long been the software of choice at Sembawang Shipyard but, after a thorough evaluation, the company decided to upgrade to AVEVA Marine, which proved to be the best and most complete solution for its current and future shipbuilding requirements.

AVEVA Marine is widely used in many successful marine and offshore projects, and is known for its reliability. AVEVA Marine has several key technological advantages over the older M3 software. Vectorworks Scenic, Lighting Design Tutorial by Kevin Lee Allen Available

www.vectorworks.net
COLUMBIA, MD, Feb 5, 2014 - Nemetschek Vectorworks, Inc. is pleased to announce the publication of a new training guide for users of Vectorworks software: Entertainment Design: Scenery, Lighting, and Sound with Vectorworks Spotlight, Third Edition.

This book, written by award-winning scenic and lighting designer Kevin Lee Allen, explores the use of the Vectorworks Spotlight with Renderworks program for the entertainment industries. While the methods and techniques described are applicable to film, television, concerts, exhibits and themed architecture or interiors, this tutorial focuses on a project that creates lighting, sound and set designs for the stage, the root of entertainment design.

"I'm always excited when I receive a new version of Vectorworks," said Allen. "There are always so many new features and tools to explore, and they make my work better and more efficient. I’m even more excited when I then get to write about what I’ve learned and share those secrets with others. Vectorworks 2014 is a major upgrade for those of us in the entertainment industries. In Vectorworks 2014, there are many improvements that speed the workflow. The new Taper Face tool and Twist tool simplify and speed up the modeling of complex shapes. For lighting designers, there are improvement to Spotlight Lighting Devices, a new tool for the creation of Lighting Positions, and one for creating Legends and/or Lighting Position Summaries, the latter two created by Josh Benghiat. The new Brick Shader and Displacement Maps advance any designer's ability to create amazing renderings. All of these things, and more, are explored in the new tutorial."

From one step beyond traditional pencil thumbnails, this guide outlines a process of design development and collaboration with other designers and technical staff. The text is tutorial-based and directs the user to create two projects, each supported by a series of simple exercises: from the creation of a simple 3D object, to the creation of scenic, sound, and lighting designs for a theoretical Broadway-scale production of Romeo & Juliet.

This book is written for professional designers, as well as designers in education (students, instructors, schools). It is intended for use with the 2014 version of Vectorworks Spotlight with Renderworks or Designer with Renderworks. It is a part of Nemetschek Vectorworks' self-paced training options, designed for people who like to learn at their own pace. For more information and to purchase these tutorials, visit www.vectorworks.net/training/guides.php.
